Your new home has an existing security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll notice that the previous owners left a smart home system. All the components function well, are installed in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this case, all you might have to do is to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a quick visit, and you can get your monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up cost to make your life simpler. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the Vivint contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your home security components with you
You might want to take your existing Vivint system with you to a new place when you move. It should be pretty simple to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can remove each component yourself or call a Vivint expert to take down everything. Then a pro will put in the same components -- and any new things you need -- in your new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
